"Sloths are definitely very different creatures. They are not everyone's cup of tea. Everything about them is different. My mother has been fascinated with them for a while. She has taken many trips to many exotic places in her life and has always kept her eyes peeled for one of these very special animals. Then, one day, while she was on a trip to Costa Rica, she finally got the chance to see one after a long day of horseback riding in the primary rainforests deep in the heart of the Osa Peninsula. She managed to snap a photograph of the sloth wide awake, even though sloths are mainly nocturnal and are usually dead asleep during the day. I looked all over the internet for an artist that was talented enough to paint such an exotic species, and that's how I stumbled upon Fran. Fran really captured the essence of the sloth and brought my mother's memorable sloth encounter into a whole new light.
